It’s me, Hanz Geeratz. No Meat Athlete, Ultra-runner and part time Buddhist. Living in the city of Hamburg, in the north of Germany. Co-founder and CTO of Speicher 210 and wingu. This is a collection of idea’s, links, notes and writings related to my main interests; long distance running, Zen, Buddhism, Taoism, Silence, literature and music. No big articles or in-depth discussions just a digital scrapbook.
Ultra Running? Ultra Running is the sport of long distance running or ultra-marathoning. The standard definition is anything past the marathon. The shortest standard distance that’s considered an ultra is the 50 kilometer distance. Some races go wide over 100km or go for several days. No Meat Athlete ? yep, I am doing this on a plant-based diet.
They [ultra runners..] understand, perhaps better than anyone, that the doors to the spirit will swing open with physical effort. In running such long and taxing distances they answer a call from the deepest realms of their being—a call that asks who they are.”David Blakey
Part time Buddhist? I consider myself a Buddhist without believes, part-time Buddhist or secular Buddhist. Buddhism without Buddhism. An non-religious Buddhism rooted in human meanings rather than in fantasies of the sacred.
